have been drawing from film/video references in the album and producing some imagery in that sense made a book of ugly drawings including random bits from those and it helped me get this kickstarted.
photocopier was helpful again in terms of making me see my work differently and inspire some ideas - ive been very loose with my drawing and this project generally speaking and although i'm not massively in love with anything i've made i feel making without being too precious has been important. getting more and more comfortable with drawing ugly things to get me through feelings uninspired / a bit like i can't get momentum going at the beginning of a project.
essentially this album is like a collage of different bits and its wacky and its playful and i've been trying to let this come through the stuff ive been doing.
went to fabric screenprint induction so need to start thinking about how these drawings can translate onto fabric. however unsure if this is the appropriate direction for it at this moment in time. might make some samples - had this idea of making a chaotic collage-y pattern (see below) with these and screenprinting them onto fabric sheets to then make into a huge tshirt to play with the hip hop aesthetic and also the theatrical side of this album that jamie and i spoke about. don't know though
also made a quick photocopy book because i felt stuck and this way of working has become quite comfortable but also reassuring for me through the illmatic project and some of the pages in it felt like they would translate well into cassette covers so thinking this could also be a potential outcome for this brief. the smaller book is more zoomed into some drawings and more processed so it started bringing more ambiguity and abstraction to what i was doing before and i quite like that

maybe the final outcomes can just embody the feeling of the album instead of being directly related because although i like some of the narratives within it (about love, friendship & the music industry) im enjoying collaging different things and being playful and i think that that could still be a valid response
from here forwards:
*play around with adding colour on photoshop to some of these photocopied bits - make it fun make it wacky
*introduce more of the collage aspect of the album through my image making - figure out how to do so
*potentially draw more? theres already some repetition going on so might b good to pick up some pens again & have a play
*maybe let the fabric stuff go for now and focus on cassette designs - might inspire those fabric pieces later
