before pp took over, i was starting to get into mm food project with my jcard designs and beginnings of ideas to take to the print room - my goal for this project was to screenprint onto fabric but that's now a no go.
i did feel like the collections of drawings i had to mess around with was limited to since being at home i've been developing that and coming up with additional material to work with - however it now feels like i'm drawing without a purpose; the way that i wanted to apply these is no longer possible so i almost want to move onto a different project when i will most likely encounter the same problem again.
it's a shame because the ethos behind this whole project was underpinned by the idea of collectables and ephemera and making objects and things that people can hold and touch but now 1. no one can touch my work and 2. i don't have access to the resources that allowed me to make those things anymore.
i think i'm very much behind the idea of making through this surreal and difficult time but i feel like carrying on this project that has been so pivotal in terms of making me fall in love with making again under these circumstances wouldn't do it justice. i was on such a roll - the photocopier was my best friend and now i don't have those things anymore.
however. we keep going and we keep making. i made another book with some scraps i had left over from when i was messing about with the photocopier with this project and added some of the more recent drawings on the blank pages; and it was nice to make something but it felt repetitive - it was more so out of the desperation to make something that was complete and an object.
also made a pattern type file that could potentially be a screenprint positive for a big sheet of fabric and played around a few colour combinations.
not sure where to take things from here really - might try and do 3 more cassette designs and move on to a different project after that.
was considering hand painting onto fabric also? need to research and see if that would be possible to do from home.
