my work very often gravitates towards sequence - i like working with panels and tell stories in that way. a lot of the work i'm drawn to also happens to take this format.
maria medem's work is a beautiful example of storytelling existing within a singular image; i love the idea of having one main image with smaller panels over it that give away a bit more of what it's about - and this is the way that i naturally make images but also something worth exploring further.

hannah buckman works in a similar way. what i particularly like about her work is these abstract lines that start appearing (bottom left) - i love the contrast between the ambiguity of those lines and the more figurative, recognisable parts of the image.
"99 ways to tell a story" is helpful as i've been focusing on story telling - it provides a good basis for thinking about different angles and viewpoints to consider when making images which is especially good for me as i sometimes get caught in continuously using the same perspective my work.
