animation - ideas and development to final outcome!

ideas
instead of generating new ideas i thought i'd be best for me to animate already existing sequences in my work - helps that i work sequentially! and thinking of ways of making them flow well with each other.

contextual research
i looked at a couple practitioners work that i admire and it was helpful in terms of setting the tone of what i wanted my animation to look like.
i knew that i wanted it to be lofi - because that's an aesthetic that i like but also partially because it felt like it's what would work best with the timescale i had. i kind of like the idea of a jittery, clearly hand drawn animation put together and i felt that charlotte mei's and josh cochrane's work was exactly what i was aiming at with my own practice,

development
in terms of story telling, my animation is just a combination of those little stories that emerged in my book - not a specific story but more snippets of those themes i was exploring to do with time, connection, awareness and love. it really was a matter of making the drawings in my book come alive and im really happy that i've pushed myself to see them being translated in this way.
i did a little test animation just to check i still knew how to use the timeline setting on photoshop and it turns out i did (yay) so i kinda just had to figure out the overall aesthetic for it in the final one; which was also fairly simply as the bulk of my outcomes was already done and i'd figured out my tone of voice for this project. to bring it all together i added a snippet of tame impala's song runway, houses, city, clouds that's in the album this whole project was inspired by. it could be better, as most things can be, but i'm happy with it!
