act of kindness

for this acts of kindness brief, i decided to do a sticker design based loosely on a song lyric by Tyler the Creator ("water your garden") that plays on an extended metaphor running throughout his album Flower Boy, where the garden stands for his inner life, and the act of watering it, a visual metaphor for personal development.

to be honest, i could have put a lot more effort into the actual design of my sticker as well as in crafting it on illustrator. i didn't spend that much time on it and i think it really shows.
the idea was there but the execution was mediocre. i like the sticker but i know it could have been a lot better - it's too literal in terms of the motifs i chose but i feel that it also fails to convey the metaphor behind the phrase?? like i could have had a person watering a garden growing from their head or something??

when it comes to the screen printing process i didn't encounter any problems. the actual process was something i was fairly familiar with so i didn't have issues with the way the ink transferred onto the page. it was good to have a refresher of all the stages prior to that though.

funnily enough, i found a series by illustrator kyle platts that follows the same premise of this brief and that does a much better job at illustrating an act of kindness than mine did ahah, but you live and you learn i guess.
